Position Summary:
The School Nurse promotes the health and wellness of students by providing direct nursing care, managing chronic health conditions, and supporting the overall health program of the school. The School Nurse serves as a key member of the school team, working collaboratively with staff, families, and community partners to remove health-related barriers to learning.
This position is a full time position with dedicated evening shifts.
The nurse will collaborate with the health center nursing team under the supervision of the Health Center Director and School Physician. Responsibilities include overseeing and providing direct care to students in accordance with school policies, procedures, and state laws regarding nursing practice. The school nurse must be comfortable multitasking and working both independently and as part of a team. Duties include student assessments, managing plans of care for injuries and illnesses, maintaining health records, and administering medications. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students in Grades 9-12.
Responsibilities:
● Provide direct professional nursing care, including first aid, illness/injury assessment, and emergency care to students.
● Develop and implement individual health care plans and emergency action plans for students with chronic or complex health needs.
● Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, school policies, and state guidelines.
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and documentation.
Identify and report communicable diseases and implement protocols for infection control.
● Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers to support student health and educational outcomes.
● Educate students, families, and staff on health topics such as nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and disease prevention.
● Make appropriate referrals on health issues and consult the Health Center Director as needed.
● Collaborate with mental health staff, athletic trainers (ATCs), and school administration as necessary.
● Manage student dietary needs and food allergies in collaboration with the kitchen manager.

● Proficient in Google docs/sheets/mail with the ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Qualifications/Certifications:
● Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
● 3+ years of nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or school health.
● CPR certification.

The expected salary range for this position is $30 - $38 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, relevant experience, education, and alignment with Landmark School’s pay framework for internal equity. In addition to salary, Landmark offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.
