YMX Logistics is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Shuttle Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the logistical operations and effective management of transportation, inventory, documentation, billing and customer service of key accounts. The attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multitask are essential to ensure the smooth flow of goods from point of origin to final destination.
Responsibilities:
Accept and update load tendered in EDI.
Schedule pick and drop appointments for loads.
Plan loads on routing sheet.
Coordinate teams on any issues and short notice requests.
Manage drop trailer pool.
Confirm staffing and coordinate with local board planner if drivers are needed to flex for volume.
Send route request to vendor.
Plan and build seasonal loads as needed.
Build load plan in TMW.
Manage drop trailer pool.
Monitor daily backlog emails.
Monitor red tag trailer lists and coordinate repairs with shop and outside vendors.
Bid on spot quote opportunities.
Assist drivers and customers calling dispatch office.
Review and process driver completed paperwork.
Coordinate with on call dispatcher the handling of any after hour issues.
Essential Functions:
Safe Driving: Operate spotting and shuttle vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, following all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
Shuttle Services: Transport trailers or containers between different facilities, such as warehouses, distribution centers, or manufacturing plants, following predetermined routes.
Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the spotting and shuttle vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition, reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and other drivers to coordinate movements and ensure efficient operations.
Documentation: Complete required paperwork, such as logbooks, inspection reports, and delivery manifests, accurately and in a timely manner.
Customer Service: Provide courteous and professional service to customers and clients, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise during transportation.
Adherence to Regulations: Adhere to all transportation regulations, including hours-of-service rules, weight limits, and hazardous materials regulations, to ensure compliance and safety.
Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve logistical challenges or issues that may arise during transportation, such as traffic delays or mechanical problems, with minimal disruption to operations.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on spotting and shuttle vehicles, such as refueling, checking fluid levels, and cleaning, to keep them in optimal condition.
Teamwork: Collaborate with other drivers and logistics personnel to achieve company goals and objectives, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
Reliability: Excellent attendance, dependable and punctuality are essential for this role.
Qualification Type & Discipline/Specialty:
Required:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
• Associate or Bachelor Degree or relevant experience in business administration, logistics, supply chain administration or transportation.
Discipline/Specialty:
Required:
• Possession of a CDL
• 2+ years of experience driving spotting trucks, shuttle vehicles, Daycab tractor with hydraulic 5th wheel.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Required:
• Demonstrated experience in the coordination of work planning activities, strong communicational skills and organizational aptitude.
Preferred:
• 2+ Years of experience in the coordinating of logistics activities, managing documentation and interacting with customers and carriers.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting: Periodic sitting required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks for hours at a time.
Walking: Occasionally required to walk moderate distances.
Communication: Frequently required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls.
Travel: Periodic required to travel and work extended hours when necessary. Required to periodically travel overnight.
Observation / Eyesight: Infrequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
Lifting: Infrequently required to solo lift supplies weighing from 5 to 20 pounds.
Environmental & Hazardous Conditions:
Frequently working indoors in an air-conditioned office based environment. Periodically required to work outside as needed to overserve operations.
