Job Description:
A Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for protecting an organization’s computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. They monitor, detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents while implementing measures to prevent future attacks. Cybersecurity Analysts play a key role in safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Monitoring & Threat Detection:
Continuously monitor network traffic, systems, and logs for suspicious activities.
Use security tools like SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) to detect and respond to threats.
Incident Response:
Investigate security breaches and coordinate responses to minimize impact.
Document incidents and create post-incident reports with corrective actions.
Vulnerability Management:
Identify and patch system vulnerabilities using scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys).
Regularly test and evaluate the security of IT infrastructure.
Security Auditing & Compliance:
Ensure the organization complies with data protection laws and security standards (ISO 27001, GDPR, NIST, etc.).
Conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
Firewall & Access Control Management:
Configure and monitor firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus software.
Manage user permissions and enforce access control policies.
Security Awareness:
Educate employees about cybersecurity best practices, phishing prevention, and safe data handling.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports on security status, threats, and improvement plans for management.
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of network security, firewalls, and VPNs
Experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, ArcSight)
Understanding of threat analysis, malware, and incident response
Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Knowledge of ethical hacking and penetration testing techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Certifications such as:
CompTIA Security+
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
