Position Summary:
A Pathology Assistant is responsible for accessioning pathology tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination.

Essential Functions:

• Performs accessioning of surgical and laboratory drop off pathology specimens.
• Assist pathologist during gross dissection.
• Knowledge of role in sentinel node biopsy FNA/CT radiologic assistance and bone marrow biopsies.
• Participates in hospital wide and departmental performance improvement activities.
• Maintains tracking documentation of specimen slides and blocks
• Acquire correct documentation of specimens from physician office and hospital staff.
• Files slides and blocks sequentially
• Disposes of wet tissue Non-Essential Functions

Qualifications:

Education: High School Degree or GED
